Gods

Let us dance with personal gods, tonight
Do not smash the idols I create

Trees, sun and moonshine light my temple
Quietness threads the skein of wooden gods

Blessed by the dew, the leaves my sacrament
The wind a whispered prayer to these discovered gods

Time is precious in their company

My paintings spell an alphabet of earth and sky
My verses brush a picture of my natural gods

Is this a scene you recognise? Can gods be shared?
Enter the temple of my mind, speak with my gods

Do not smash the idols I create
Let us dance with personal gods, tonight
